guinea pig

Ruby has had her guinea pig (a male, named Jewels) for 6 months now, and I think that he finally likes her.  We've recently moved the cage into the kids' bedroom, which I've read that you're not supposed to do, but it's definitely working for us.  Ruby is able to pay a lot more attention to him and spends a lot more time holding him.  He's still not the most affectionate guinea pig (is there such a thing?), but he hasn't bit her in awhile, so we're happy about that.

Lovely Days

We have had some really beautiful weather lately.  We've spent more time outside than in, and are counting down the days until school is out-- 4 full days, 3 half days for me!

 Playing in the backyard.

 Visiting the Pirate Invasion! downtown.

Enjoying the beach--- we love living here!!

I am excited to begin a 30-day vegan on-line workshop.  John and I have been watching quite a few food documentaries lately and are working hard at aligning our diets with the things that we are learning.   I might post a few pictures of some of the food that we're eating this month and a few reflections of the experience.

here again?

I think that I'll start posting in this space again.  I really enjoy looking back through the archives-- it's such a great snapshot of our lives, I'd love to continue this.  I think that the end of school and the beginning of summer are the perfect time to begin again.  Here are a few recent pictures of the kids....

Pictures

I'll be posting most of my pictures on my Flickr account. Most of my posts here are just pictures anyway. I'm sure I'll have some more interesting posts after the baby arrives in March!

Thanksgiving

Livi helped carve the turkey.

The kids had fun running around all over great-gramma's house.

After supper, the kids "helped" put up great-gramma's Christmas tree.

Ruby's birthday (back in November!)

Painting her face for the party.

Opening her presents, with a lot of "help" from her friends.

Last year, she wanted to stop and play with each gift. This year, she wanted to open them all up as quickly as possible, throwing each one aside after barely looking at it!

Ruby had the most perfect cake-- pink with a horse on it! Thanks to her godmother, Donna, for getting it for her.

I truly cannot believe she is three. She's an official "big girl" now!!
